1. Overview

AI Insights for Google Sheets™ ("we," "us," or "our") is a Google Sheets add-on that analyzes spreadsheet sales data and generates AI-powered business insights. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we access, how we process it, how we protect it, and what we do not do with your information.

This Privacy Policy is designed to comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements, and is intended to meet the standards required for Google OAuth verification and Google Workspace Marketplace approval.

2. Data We Access

The add-on accesses the following data from the active Google Sheet only:

• Spreadsheet content — column headers and data rows from the active sheet
• Document properties — stored column mappings (e.g., which column is "Sales")

We do not access:

• Other spreadsheets in your Google Drive
• Your Google account profile or email address
• Your Gmail, Calendar, or any other Google services
• Files, photos, or personal data outside the active spreadsheet

3. How We Process Your Data

Local Processing: All calculations (totals, averages, trends, top products, growth rates) are performed locally using Google Apps Script. Your raw spreadsheet data never leaves Google servers during this phase.

AI Processing: Only a compact, anonymized summary is sent to Google's Gemini API. For example:

"Total Sales: $52,430. Top Country: France. Top Product: Headphones. Weekly growth: +8%."

This summary contains no personal information, no customer names, no email addresses, and no individual transaction details.

4. Sensitive Data Protection

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect user data during transmission and storage.

Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between the add-on and external services (including the Gemini API) is protected using HTTPS/TLS encryption.

Access Controls: Access to user data is strictly limited to authorized personnel and is only granted when necessary for operational support, security investigations, or legal compliance. We maintain technical and organizational measures to prevent unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of user data.

Data Minimization: We process only the minimum data necessary to provide the add-on's core functionality. Raw spreadsheet data is never transmitted to external servers.

5. Data Usage

Google Workspace user data accessed by this add-on is used solely to provide the application's core functionality — specifically, to analyze sales data and generate business insights within the active spreadsheet.

We do not:

• Sell, rent, or lease user data to any third party
• Use user data for advertising, retargeting, or interest-based marketing
• Use user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes
• Transfer user data to data brokers, information resellers, or other information service providers
• Use user data for any purpose other than providing the requested analysis service

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Column Mappings: Column mapping data stored in Google Apps Script Document Properties is retained only as long as the associated spreadsheet exists. This data is automatically deleted when the spreadsheet is deleted.

AI Summaries: Compact anonymized summaries sent to the Gemini API are processed in real-time and are not retained by us. Google's data handling practices apply to API requests as described in their Privacy Policy and Data Processing Terms.

User-Initiated Deletion: You may clear stored column mappings manually at any time via the add-on Settings menu. To completely remove all associated data, uninstall the add-on via Google Sheets → Extensions → Manage add-ons.

Data Deletion Requests: Users may request deletion of any stored data by contacting us at the email address provided in Section 11 of this policy. We will process such requests within 30 days.

7. AI and Machine Learning

No Training of Generalized Models: We explicitly state that Google Workspace API data is not used to train, improve, or develop generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models, including any large language models.

AI Functionality: The add-on uses Google's Gemini API to generate natural language business insights based on compact, anonymized numerical summaries of your sales data. This processing occurs solely to provide the requested analysis service within your spreadsheet. User data is not used by us or by any AI provider to train, fine-tune, or improve generalized AI/ML models.

8. Google API Services User Data Policy Compliance

AI Insights for Google Sheets™' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

9. Limited Use Compliance Statement

AI Insights for Google Sheets™ confirms full compliance with the Limited Use requirements of the Google API Services User Data Policy. Specifically:

• We comply with all conditions specified in the Google API Services User Data Policy
• We comply with all Limited Use requirements
• User data is only used to provide or improve user-facing features visible within the add-on
• User data is not used for serving advertisements, including retargeted, personalized, or interest-based advertising
• User data is not sold or transferred to third parties
• User data is not used to train, fine-tune, or improve generalized AI or machine learning models
• Human access to user data is limited to cases with explicit user consent, security purposes, legal compliance, or internal operations with aggregated and anonymized data

10. Third-Party Services

We use Google Gemini API to generate AI insights. The data sent to Gemini consists solely of compact numerical summaries. Google handles this data in accordance with their Privacy Policy and Data Processing Terms.

11. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Uninstall the add-on at any time via Google Sheets → Extensions → Manage add-ons
• Revoke the add-on's access to your Google account at any time via Google Account Permissions
• Request deletion of any stored data by contacting us
• Review the source code (the add-on is built with Google Apps Script)

13. Changes to This Policy
